Then you realize its just heat shield vibrating
Also featuring the part of my brain that is disappointed I didn’t think of that sooner which i guess takes the form of a big tattooed Hawaiian.
I have an exhaust leak and combined with a heat shield rattle it sounded a lot like engine knock. A few minutes with a rubber mallet has me feeling much better.

I dunno, heat shield problems have been known to cause some plenty of anxiety.

Yup, been there. Hell, AM there. Need to get to my indy exhaust guy. Buzzes like mad at part throttle while under load.
My temporary solution: apply more throttle.

I once thought something in my front suspension was about to fall apart. I was all set to pull my left front wheel in the school parking lot, on my lunch break ... Then I found that the center cap was loose, and that what was making all that noise.

I remember when this happened to my rav4 and I had them just remove all my heat shields. I also liked to drive that car around in tall grass in the driest state often. That was so dumb.
I should have had more anxiety. I don’t want to fall into a burning ring of fire like some others have.

I remember a friend of mine installed rock sliders and then drove around and he got really worried when the steering was bad and there was a lot of noise. He thought he ruined his truck. Nope, just forgot to tighten the lugs.
